Abstract
The scattering of acoustic waves from an infinite cylindrical fluid obstacle of greater density than the loading medium is investigated. The two cases of a glycerine cylinder in water and of a mercury cylinder in alcohol are discussed. Together with the previously considered case of an air-cylinder in water, they show the dependence of the position and width of the peaks of the internal resonances on the ratio between the external and internal densities and the sound velocities and on the incidence angle.
