Abstract
We show theoretically and confirm experimentally that frequency characteristics of the system of a diaphragm and a short-circuit plunger can be determined primarily by one of higher-order modes. Making salients and hollows whose numbers in the slot correspond to indices of this mode leads to a significant (by a factor of about 2) decrease in the resonance-curve width.
