Abstract
This essay analyses the perspective on the contemporary situation developed by Braun in his Büchner Prize acceptance speech. It traces the thought processes and intertextual writing strategies involved. The main emphasis in this reading of a particularly densely worked-out text is on Braun's examination of the central sociopolitical problem which humankind faces: the relationship between individuals and society.
