Abstract

This January saw UN Women, come into being. Here, long-time UN-watcher and advocate for change, Oxfam Novib's Daniela Rosche, writes about her hopes for the future for the UN's new agencyby Daniela RoscheLife without economic resources is hard. It is harder still if you are not only poor, but belong to a minority community which is subject to prejudice from the wider population. In this piece, we hear about a project which aimed to transform the lives of members of just such a Costa Rican community, using a technique in which theatre provides a positive experience – with long-term effects – for the audience, and the actors alike.by Steven Hawkins
