Abstract

FeCl3·6H2O efficiently catalyzed the three-component condensation reaction of acylals, ethyl acetoacetate, and urea or thiourea to afford the corresponding 3,4-dihydropyrimidin-2(1H)-ones in good yields under solvent-free and microwave conditions.
