Abstract
We study the effective interaction between charges located in a slab, with periodic boundary conditions applied along the slab. When the distance between particles perpendicular to the slab is large, a Fourier representation of the interaction may be used. We derive a closed expression for the interaction for small perpendicular distance which provides a very good approximation to the actual interaction. The expression allows for fast numerical computation.
