Abstract
Representations of asingle photon are critically reviewed, and it is found that none of the existing theories describes it completely. It is argued that a concrete physical model of a photon is necessary to resolve the conceptual problems. A review on the physics of singular light beams brings out the significance of the angular momentum at a fundamental level. It is suggested that this may be useful to develop a photon fluid approach to the electromagnetic fields.
