Abstract

Using a novel matrix formulation, the equi-frequency diagrams of an arbitrary two-dimensional photonic crystal have been computed. In addition, using a frequency domain technique, a two-dimensional photonic crystal slab illuminated by a Gaussian beam has been analysed. The numerical results obtained verify the existence of all-angle negative refraction in a two-dimensional photonic crystal slab.
