Abstract

This paper presents the analysis of a two-non-identical-unit parallel system. The system stops functioning only when both the units fail. The joint distribution of the lifetimes of both units is taken to be a bivariate negative exponential. The repair times of the two units are uncorrelated random variables, which each have a negative exponential distribution with different parameters. Using the regenerative point technique, the various reliability characteristics useful to system managers are obtained.
