Abstract

Equipment verification, a practice that attempts to demonstrate specific claims or attributes of a system, has become a force in the field of UV disinfection for water and wastewaters. This discussion paper gives a perspective of the several verification efforts that are underway and the status of verification protocols. Issues related to such protocols, and the equipment elements that can fall under this verification umbrella are discussed. The need for more universal protocols is suggested. This includes unifying the various groups that are presently involved in the development and application of verification protocols.
