Abstract
The Town of Cary is implementing a reclaimed water program as part of an overall strategy to manage and plan for future water supply needs. The program includes improvements at each of Cary's water reclamation facilities to distribute reclaimed water in bulk through an extensive dual distribution system for cooling water and irrigation, including service to approximately 40 commercial customers and approximately 360 single family homes. This paper provides an overview of the Town's new reclaimed water systems and reviews several of the institutional and policy issues that Cary has faced in implementing a new reclaimed water utility.
