Abstract

A new ruthenium complex, [Ru(bpbp)2](PF6)2, based on 2,6-bis(1-phenylbenzimidazol-2-yl)pyridine (bpbp) was synthesized and characterized by element analysis, IR, and X-ray single crystal structure determination. The Ru(II) ion octahedral geometry is coordinated by six nitrogen atoms from two ligands (bpbp). The antiproliferative activities of the complex were screened by MTT assay against Huh7, Eca109, Eca9706, LNCaP, and A375 cancer cells. The complex exhibits broad inhibition on the growth of Huh7, Eca109 Eca9706, LNCaP, and A375 cancer cells.
