Abstract
ABSTRACT: There will be no lessening of the demand for long‐term care facilities, despite the increase in home care and community services. The subject is discussed with regard to the statistics on admission to these facilities, government attitudes toward alternative modes of care, family relationships, and social attitudes. The quality of care in nursing homes will be enhanced by the continuing education of the staff and the public concerning the potentialities for enriching the lives of the aged residents.
