Abstract

Graphene quantum dots (GQDs) can act as nanocarbon‐based artificial peroxidases. In their Communication on page 7176 ff., X. Qu et al. obtained various GQD derivatives through the selective deactivation of oxygen‐containing groups. A comparison of their catalytic activities shows that ketone groups are the catalytically active sites, whereas carboxylic groups act as substrate‐binding sites, and hydroxy groups can inhibit the activity of the GQDs.
