Abstract
The proximal gastric bypass is an international standard inbariatric surgery. In Germany the gastric bypass is the one ofthe most frequently used procedures. The main principle issolid food restriction, but there is a number of additionalmechanisms. Hormonal regulations and changes are just underinvestigation. Intestinal malabsorption is responsible forpotential deficiencies and their metabolic side effects, if consequentlife-long supplementation of minerals and vitaminswas missed.
