Abstract

The diet and feeding behaviour of an habituated group of free-ranging spider monkeys (Ateles belzebuth belzebuth) were studied from 1987 to 1989. Their dietary patterns were analysed in relation to the temporal and spatial distribution of food resources. The results indicate that ripe fruit was regularly eaten throughout the study period and that diet composition was significantly related to the overall availability of ripe fruit sources.
