Abstract
The structure of the title compound, C14H12O2, resembles that of phenyl benzoate and 4‐methylphenyl benzoate, with similar geometric parameters. The dihedral angle between the phenyl and benzoyl rings is 79.61 (6)°, compared to values of 55.7° for phenyl benzoate and 60.17 (7)° for 4‐methylphenyl benzoate. The molecules in the title compound are packed with the methylphenyl and the benzoyl rings nearly orthogonal to each other.
