Abstract
The title compound, C19H16N2, crystallizes with two molecules in the asymmetric unit related by a non‐crystallographic plane of symmetry. The three fused rings of the fluorene system are almost coplanar. The cyanoethanoic groups display extended conformations and are nearly perpendicular to the fluorene plane. The packing of the molecules in the crystal structure is mainly due to van der Waals forces.
