Abstract

The aim of this study was to develop a sustainable composter that works associating aerobic digestion of organic matter from waste to anaerobic digestion of that organic matter. The composter was developed from a composite of polyester resin reinforced with palm fibers to contribute to the waste generated in the consumption of palm in Brazilian territory. Moreover, biodegradation of the developed composite was studied in contact with the organic material deposited in the composter. Results showed that the composter has potential to generate good quality organic compost for fertilization and also showed that the composite in contact with the organic matter reduced mechanical properties of the material.
