Abstract
The objective of this pilot study was to assess the prevalence of prescription drug use with the purpose to enhance physical performance, cognitive performance, and mood. Further, we examined factors correlated with this use in 566 marathon runners, in Germany. Participants were assessed prior to a public marathon run. We therefore designed a short paper-and-pencil questionnaire concerning their use of enhancing substances.
