Abstract

In nonrelativistic Coulomb plasmas with quantum dynamics and statistics, the effect ofan external uniform magnetic field upon thermodynamics and the algebraictails of positioncorrelations is discussed. The results are obtained in the framework of apath integralformalism. The exact virial expansion of the free-energy density at finitetemperature iscalculated up to order $\rho^{5/2}$ in the density ρ. It exhibits theinterplay ofCoulomb interactions and quantum statistics with bare diamagnetism andparamagnetism. Moreover, the static particle correlations are shown to decay as $1/r^5$ atlargedistances r, and the exact analytical coefficients of these tails aregiven at first orderin ρ.
