Abstract

The Raman scattering by acoustic vibrations of the fractal units iswell studied for nanoscopic solid fractals vibrating in vacuum. Thiswork gives evidence of the existence of a similar effect but involvingthe vibrations of closed fractal nanocracks propagated in a densemedium (vitreous $\chem{SiO_2}$). The fracton spectrum was found to be sensitiveto both crack size and compactness of the crack wall material.
