Abstract

In this article, an analysis has been made of the force characteristics of a detachable sealed joint having two successively placed gaskets that hermetically separate two chambers in an apparatus where the pressures of the working media are different. The joints were analyzed by using their electrical analog circuits. The analysis helped derive expressions for determining the load on the successively arranged sealing elements and fastening (securing) parts (bolts or pins) under the operating conditions (with due regard for the pressure in each sealed chamber of the apparatus) and the force of preloading of each group of fastening parts. A procedure is proposed for calculating (designing) joints having two successively placed sealing elements. It can also be used for joints having a large number of serially placed sealing elements.
