Abstract
The paper presents a highly parameterised distributed model of a greenhouse. One of the main advantages of this kind of model is that it aids the design of distributed systems to control climatic variables which, as will be shown in the paper, are more effective than the systems traditionally used. Another point of interest is the technique used to tune the various controllers, based on a genetic optimisation algorithm. The model has also been used to implement a SIMULINK simulator of the greenhouse system, which is particularly useful for analysis of the dynamic behaviour of systems of this type and for design of the control system.
