Abstract
Thoracic outlet syndrome (TOS) refers to a set of conditions that cause a functional alteration of the neurovascular structures crossing the thoracic outlet: this is an area bordered by the scalene muscles, the first rib and the clavicle. The neurovascular structures pass through it to move to the neck and chest into the axilla and upper limb. The resulting disease patterns require a multidisciplinary approach that involves, in the diagnosis and treatment, the orthopedic surgeon, the vascular surgeon, the neurologist, the neurosurgeon and the physiatrist.
