Abstract
The job situation in Scotland for newly qualified midwives continues to be a challenging one. Many midwives have to search for their first job away from the comforts of home and family. This can broaden perspectives and give challenging and rewarding opportunities. It is a dilemma more and more students have to face. Will leaving family and familiar surroundings be worth it? One newly qualified midwife tells her story and encourages others to broaden their horizons and see the positives in this time of upheaval.
