Abstract

(Na0.5Bi0.5)0.93Ba0.07TiO3 ceramics added with 0-0.8 wt.% La2O3 were prepared by a citrate method, and the influence of the La2O3 addition on the structure and electrical properties was investigated. The La2O3 addition did not cause a remarkable change in crystal structure and microstructure. Adding a small amount of La2O3 (≤ 0.2wt.%) slightly improves the piezoelectric constant (d33) and electromechanical coupling factor (kp), while higher La2O3 amounts led to a rapid deterioration of piezoelectric and ferroelectric properties. The variation of the electrical properties with the La2O3 addition was tentatively interpreted with respect to doping effect and stability of ferroelectric domains.
