Abstract

The purpose of this investigation was the treatment of synthetic xonotlite-based filler with silanes. By bonding of the silane onto the surface, its nature changes from hydrophilic to organic media-compatible. Part I of the paper describes the established mechanisms, conditions and means of silane deposition onto filler surfaces. Part II will show the experimental results and possible applications of silane-treated xonotlite filler.
