Abstract
Three Pinus resinosa tree crowns were analysed to determine the weight distribution of different aged needles. The trees differed in their crown development and little similarity between their comparable whorls was evident. Younger needles always predominated in the upper crown, older ones in the less virgorous lower levels with the maximum weights of each age class and total foliage being in the middle crown.
