Abstract

Orthopaedics and vascular surgery have a link in the history of medicine, represented by amputations and by vessel ligatures. The most important surgeons through the ages confronted bone or vascular trauma. In the centuries, besides traumatology, new knowledge about vascular and orthopaedics developed but only in XIX century, with narcosis and antisepsis, there has been a real evolution to modern therapeutic options.
