Abstract
This case study describes a multimodal intervention program for a g-year-old girl with severe communication problems secondary to cerebral palsy, receptive dysphasia, and auditory agnosia. This child had no formal communication method prior to the age of 8 years. The intervention program combined manual signs and graphic symbols, was intensive, highly structured, and had significant positive results. Children with multiple handicaps are often not investigated thoroughly. This results in erroneous assumptions about their present and future levels of functioning.
