Abstract
The Education (Work Experience) Act 1973 made it possible for pupils in their last year of statutory schooling to sample a job environment. In this school since that date there have been several hundred placements in work as diverse as banking and bricklaying on the one hand, and medicine and mechanics on the other. Pupils participating have been drawn from all levels of ability, covering work of a very routine and perhaps mundane kind to that necessitating considerable knowledge of intricate scientific processes.
