Abstract

To some extent this section has been anticipated in the other parts of the syllabus. Where writing has been expressly mentioned, or fairly strongly suggested as a natural extension of an exercise, I shall not repeat the exercise here. What should be the reasonable aim of the Craft English apprentice? Just this: sufficient confidence to put down his ideas simply and coherently one sentence at a time. I have stressed that this should be founded on an ability to speak out clearly, and I will only repeat that whatever is attempted should be within the known ability of the individuals in the group.
