Abstract
In this article attention is placed on what is considered personal and cultural knowledge versus school knowledge; so that educators can begin to question classic concepts of early learning. Included are the accounts of thoughtful, perceptive adults which help us to recognise that the foundation for traditional education of young children was almost totally based in Western tradition.
