Abstract
We have studied the stretch resistance of needlepunched web with bicomponent fibers, as a function of processing conditions. We propose a mechanism for stretching of the web and provide a rationale for a processing method. We consider the major processing methods and perform a comparative analysis of their effectiveness. Stretch resistance depends on the combination of temperature and processing speed, and to a large extent the effectiveness of processing is determined by its speed.
