Abstract

One-dimensional nanocrystalline iron materials with different morphology were synthesized by electrodeposition under magnetic field in Fe2+ aqueous solution without any templates or mediums. The morphology and properties of the electrodeposits were characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), x-ray diffraction (XRD), and vibrating sample magnetometer (VSM). The deposits are α-Fe with (110) orientation. The deposits also have a size of 40–60 nm in diameter, and an aspect ratio of 50–60. Saturation magnetization of the deposits along the axis is larger than that along the radial direction, while remnant magnetization and coercive force along the axis are smaller than that along the radial direction.
