Abstract

Pyrochlore-type K2Ta2O6 powder was synthesized by solid-state method at 600°C. Perovskite KTaO3 can be completely inhibited by calcination of the mixture of ammonium tantalum hydroxide and K2CO3 in the presence of KCl. The as-prepared K2Ta2O6 comprises particles of irregular polyhedron and particular octahedral shapes with the size from 50 to 200 nm. The lattice fringes consist of distinguishable parallel planes with a spacing of ca. 0.62 nm. The products are different when using other alkali chlorides as additives.
