Abstract

Two new cation-templated complexes, (BDMLP)2[Pb2I8]} (1) and {(MLDE)[PbI3]}n (2) [BDMLP = 1,3-bis(dimethylimidazole) propane; MLDE = methylimidazole ethane] have been synthesized via the self-assembly reaction in solution. Single-crystal X-ray diffraction analysis shows compound 1 is a dimer and 2 is a 1D chain. Electrostatic interactions between the organic counteranions and inorganic moieties are present and do the contribution to the crystal packing. These compounds have been further characterized by IR, fluorescence spectrophotometer, and thermostability properties.
